I have noticed that relative paths also work when specifying a .big when launching the game via command line or shortcut.

For example
D:\Games\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod ..\BSG\hw2bsg-v.0.4.1-win.big

It might make sense to change the install method of BSG and put all BSG files in a separate folder along with their readme's and such. This would help keep peoples Homeworld2\Data folders from getting messy, especially if multiple mods are installed.

I theory, I like this idea. In practice, OMG so many people can't figure out how to modify a short cut! I'm afraid moving the folder will make it harder for them and at that level I would like to just make it as easy as possible so we can grow them into more "advanced" techniques.

I think the folks who can handle multiple mods, can handle putting the files in another directory better.

I should however make sure that the files we put in Data directory start with hw2bsg, that will help us from greatly contributing to the mess at least.

The Mac guidelines for installation don't work.

I have a brand new mac. Installed the game and even have patch 1.1. And yes the application is installed in the right directory.

First off, you still have the shaders folder there, delete that.

Did you read both readme files?
Because the launcher that you are using is for the directory installation only, not the bigfile. The bigfile is a self-contained archive that has everything the mod needs in that format to run.

The launcher you need can be found here.
